Taking the Sting of Waxing Out of Hair Removal

Do you want to get that perfect silky smooth skin, but you are afraid of the sting of waxing? Here are a few things that you can do to make the hair removal experience as painless as possible.

Taking the Sting of Waxing Out of Hair Removal

Make sure your hair is long enough

Not too long, not too short…but just right! Ideally, your hair should be a ¼ inch long, to give the wax a better shot at gripping and removing it swiftly with as little pain as possible.

Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin with a gentle body scrub for a few days before your appointment. By softly removing the dead skin cells trapped in your hair follicles, the hair can make a cleaner exit when it is pulled, lessening the stinging that you may feel.

Moisturize

Regularly moisturize your skin, especially before your appointment. This will keep your skin soft and hydrated, especially after exfoliating. Do not moisturize on the day of your appointment. Make sure that your skin is clean so that the wax can really grip and remove your hair. That way you can avoid going over the same area multiple times.

Talk to your esthetician

Having a conversation with your esthetician gives you a chance to be heard and explain your specific situation. With a better idea of your wants and needs, your esthetician can look out for your best interests and apply techniques that make the process as easy as possible for you.

At Shelley’s Day Spa and Salon, we make it our duty to ensure that you can talk to us. We want you to feel confident and happy with what we can do for you and your skin. Our professionals are sure to give you a pleasant experience, by selecting the best products and techniques for your skin type to reduce any discomfort you may have.
